About

Jaret Valera is a second-year and first-generation Promise Scholar pursuing a degree in Geography with an emphasis in Geographic Information Science. As the UC Bonnie Reiss Leading on Climate Action Fellow in Sustainable Transportation, he is developing in-depth feasibility studies for each of the low GHG commuting concepts in the current draft Climate Action Plan for UCSB.

In 2024-2025, Jaret served as an undergraduate researcher assessing the greenhouse gas emissions of procured goods and services with a focus on cleaning chemicals. In 2023, he was honored to achieve the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest rank attainable in the Scouts BSA program by the Boy Scouts of America. He also served under the position as an assistant curator for the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act (NAGPRA) Project in the Anthropology Department for the 2023-2024 academic year.
