"DeLayni is the Environmental Program Manager for the City of Carpinteria, where she oversees the City’s Solid Waste, Watershed Management, and Resource Conservation programs. She also serves as project manager for the City’s coastal resiliency effort, the Carpinteria Living Shoreline Project. She has been with the City since September 2024.
DeLayni holds a Bachelor of Science in Wildlife, Fish, and Conservation Biology from the University of California, Davis. She has a diverse background in environmental conservation and education, beginning her career as a wildlife biologist for a consulting firm, where she spent three years monitoring sensitive species such as the California Least Tern, Western Snowy Plover, San Nicolas Island Fox, and Salt Marsh Bird’s-Beak.
She later worked with an Indigenous-led nonprofit as an Education Program Manager, teaching people of all ages about California ecology, marine protected areas, and environmental justice. DeLayni has also worked as a stormwater sampling consultant for a law firm, collecting samples from unpermitted facilities to support environmental litigation."
