My name is Itzel, and I am a first-year student double majoring in Environmental Studies and Spanish at UC Santa Barbara. I believe building strong communities leads to safe and productive neighborhoods and cities. Over the years, I have spent a lot of time working with different groups on community-based projects, including interning twice with the EPACENTER in East Palo Alto, California, to create community murals. Since I've attended UCSB, I have worked with CALPIRG, the environmental activism club on campus, by petitioning, tabling, and advocating for ecological problems that need to be addressed. During my undergraduate years, I hope to gain hands-on experience that will allow me to pursue graduate studies focused on environmental protection.
