Johana Hernandez

My name is Johana Magdalena Hernandez. I am a first generation Latina pursuing a double major in Sociology and Chicano Studies. I am a first year student who is passionate about providing support to low income and undocumented students pursuing higher education. I want to give back to my community because it took a village for me to be able to receive the privilege of coming to UCSB, therefore I want to return the support. I am working towards becoming an immigration lawyer as I believe that everyone deserves an opportunity to live a better life in a country full of opportunities. I have experience lobbying for bills aimed to support Latino students, as well as working with the youth through folklorico; a cultural dance.
