Edible Campus Program

Through this ongoing project, we address local food insecurity by repurposing underutilized spaces for sustainable food production and engaging students and community through workshops, volunteering, and community action.

Electric Vehicle Charging

The Equitable Charging Access for Renters in the 805 region (E-CAR 805) Project is a collaboration across three counties—San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara, and Ventura—to expand electric vehicle charging access to low-income multifamily housing along the Central Coast.

Values

To serve our students and our community, the Sustainability Internships & Community Resources Department centers our work on these values:

Leadership
through
Partnership

Students through our program are encouraged to work closely with staff, faculty, off-campus community leaders, and other students. We believe that leadership comes from building a community.

Community
Responsiveness

Projects developed in our office are selected based on feedback from our community on what is most needed at any given time.

Honor
for
History & Future

Before selecting projects, students in our program work to understand what efforts have come before them and how they can build on that work. They are also encouraged to identify who might lead these projects.

Holistic
Thinking

Each project in our office is approached from the perspective of how that project will impact (positively and negatively) our environment, economy, and community.
