The Edible Campus Program (ECP) aims to address local food insecurity by repurposing underutilized spaces for sustainable food production and engaging students and community members as growers and producers. We train individuals in practices that address social, economic, and environmental aspects of sustainability and help them to reclaim their personal connection to the land and their food.
Edible Campus Program provides support to 8 community gardens and partners with both on and off campus partners on educational programs related to community gardens and sustainable food systems.
Collaborative Projects in Isla Vista
Recently IVCSD, ECP, and Habitat for Humanity partnered up on the We are Isla Vista; Community Care Project which encouraged neighborhood engagement and volunteering in Isla Vista.
Events through this project were also co-hosted with:
- Friendship Manor
- Isla Vista Recreation and Parks District

- St.Michael’s University Church.
Garden Education Workshops
Student garden educators from ECP offer workshops on and off campus to diverse communities. Some of our current off-campus partners include:

Interfaith Partnerships
ECP also has interfaith partnerships with University United Methodist Church and St. Michael’s University Church, both of which co-manage community gardens with ECP.
