On-Campus Gardens
Student Farm
The Student Farm was co-launched in 2019 between the UCSB Edible Campus Program, Associated Students Department of Public Worms (AS DPW), and AS Food Bank. The farm and Urban Orchard (a set of 7 fruit trees in Storke Plaza) were designed from the beginning of the project to meet all safety requirements to allow the food to be donated to the AS Food Bank. It is currently managed by AS DPW. Edible Campus Program provides educational programming in collaboration with DPW and volunteer support for the farm. The farm was designed by a professional landscape designer and includes many unique features such as a permaculture forest, drip irrigation system, SmartFarm technologies, and vermicomposting demonstration box. With decomposed granite walkways, an ADA ramp to the permaculture garden, range of box heights, and ample space between beds, this is the most accessible garden for people of different abilities. You can express interest in a tour on the Farm Tour Sign-ups Page.

Three Sisters Garden & Four Directions
UCSB is on Chumash lands, and the American Indian & Indigenous Gardens Alliance have chosen to honor the space through the creation of gardens as an opportunity for inter-tribal and inter-community engagement by the sharing of traditional foods and medicinal foods important to indigenous cultures and ancestries. Garden spaces are adjacent to the Student Resource Building and at West Campus Family Student Housing. To volunteer, please contact sa-nativefamilies@ucsb.edu.

Off-Campus Community Gardens
St. Michael's Community Garden
6586 Picasso Rd, Isla Vista, CA 93117
St. Michael's Community garden is home to a beautiful rose garden, 45 raised garden beds, a flower garden, and an expansive composting program. Most of the beds are part of a community based gardening program where the garden beds are shared by all community members. We plant together and we harvest together. Please note that all raised beds that are painted blue are available for harvesting. Please take only what you need for your own household. We do maintain a small set of private plots for people who really want that style of gardening and for whom private plots at nearby gardens aren't a good fit for them. To learn more about this garden, please contact Kency kjm346@ucsb.edu.
